More Than a Speaker:

Bringing Conversations to Life in the Workplace

Most people have endured it at least once: the mandatory workplace training where the lights dim, the PowerPoint begins, and within fifteen minutes people are checking email, counting ceiling tiles, wondering how much longer the presentation will last and wishing they were home folding fitted sheets.

Learning doesn’t happen when people are merely talked at. It happens when they’re engaged.

That belief has shaped every presentation I deliver.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of speaking to organizations of every size—from schools and nonprofit organizations to healthcare systems and Fortune 500 companies, including the NFL, Amazon, and State Farm Insurance. Whether the topic is burnout, workplace mental health, leadership, stress management, resilience, communication, or psychological safety, my goal is always the same: create an experience that people remember and can immediately put into practice.

My path to becoming a speaker has been somewhat unique.

Before becoming a psychotherapist, I spent 20 years as a television reporter reaching the network level. Journalism taught me how to tell compelling stories, connect with an audience, think on my feet, and communicate complex information in a way that is understandable and engaging. Every day was about capturing attention within seconds and holding it.

Today, as a licensed psychotherapist, I bring a completely different set of skills to the stage. I understand human behavior, motivation, conflict, anxiety, trauma, relationships, and the psychology behind why people struggle. More importantly, what helps people change.

When those two professions come together, presentations become something different.

Instead of simply delivering information, I create conversations.

Audiences are invited to participate rather than passively observe. People ask questions, share experiences, laugh together, and often leave feeling both informed and energized. Research in adult learning consistently shows that active participation improves engagement, retention, and application compared with passive lecture alone. When people are emotionally invested in learning, they’re far more likely to remember—and use—what they’ve learned.

That means no “death by PowerPoint.”

Certainly, visual aids can be useful, but slides should support the conversation, not become the conversation. My presentations rely on storytelling, audience interaction, practical exercises, humor when appropriate, and real-world examples that make psychological concepts immediately relatable.

Whether I’m speaking about burnout, helping leaders build healthier workplace cultures, recognizing the early signs of mental health concerns, or improving communication among teams, I strive to make every session practical. Participants leave with strategies they can use the very next day, not simply a notebook full of information they’ll never revisit.

Organizations today face challenges that didn’t exist even a decade ago. Multiple generations in the workplace, keeping team cohesion when team members may live hundreds of miles apart and reducing burnout related turnover or performance problems are among myriad difficulties. Employees report higher levels of stress, managers are navigating increasingly complex interpersonal dynamics, and leaders are being asked to support mental health while maintaining productivity and performance.

Addressing these issues requires more than checking a compliance box.

It requires creating environments where people feel understood, respected, and equipped with practical skills.

That’s where an engaging speaker can make a meaningful difference.

Bill Prasad Houston corporate speakerMy presentations are grounded in evidence-based psychological principles while remaining accessible to audiences without a mental health background. I translate research into everyday language and practical tools that resonate with executives, frontline employees, educators, healthcare professionals, first responders, and community organizations alike.

Perhaps most importantly, I believe people learn best when they feel comfortable.

That means creating an atmosphere where questions are welcomed, differing perspectives are respected, and participants feel like they’re part of the discussion. The are not simply sitting through another presentation.

If your organization is looking for a trainer or speaker who combines clinical expertise with professional storytelling, energy, humor, and genuine audience engagement, I’d be honored to be part of your next event. I promise attendees won’t be sitting there wishing they had spend the day at the DMV.

The best presentations don’t end when people walk out of the room.

They continue in the conversations people have afterward—and in the changes they make because of what they learned together.
